O Baby

Hidden in the furthest recesses of the Myspace search function beneath a canopy of dodgy start-up hip hop production companies with ganja leaf graphics, Highlife ‘s er, high, is not the sort you’re likely to get your hands on at Camden lock any time soon. There’s something genuinely exotic and unattainable in the lilting choral arrangement of F Kenya that defies placement and flys from any one pigeonhole. Indeed, these songs sound like they belong to the earth itself and have been playing themselves forever in some enchanted wonderland woodland clearing – there’s a brilliant cyclical feeling to them that seems endless and natural. Highlife shares his time between London and NYC so if you’re knocking around in the latter, you could do worse than to hit up his show with White Magic on February 27th. For the rest of us:
