Heaven High

Not entirely sure who Alison is exactly but on this hearing I’d imagine her as a rare, elusive beauty swinging sadly through some seriously humid, carniverous overgrowth in a thunder-cloud spaceage amazon, a painted silver warrior princess stealing into the same red evening that swallows our marooned, long-way-from-home hero’s heady hope – seeking the warm arms of belief and finding only fresh air and wettest night-time.
Celestial Bodies is the new project from Ferry of Semifinalists , illustration and general polymath renown. Like his previous project, it coats itself in thick layers of dream-catching eighties indebted atmospherics and sweet melody but this is more shady post-millenial paranoid sweaty palms than sunglasses and speedboat high-fives and is all the better for it.
See it for yourself at White Heat tomorrow (April 28th), or Young and Lost Club at the Lock Tavern on May 7th.

One of our favourite labels/promoters/bouncer appeasers, the aforementioned YALC girls are hosting a new DJ night at the Old Queens Head in Islington this Friday, May 1st. In a rare error of judgement on their part they’ve asked me to play some records but apart from that it should be very fun:
