True Blue

Morning, marauding roadside sound-starved internet gypsies, how’s life thru your eyes? It’s coloured in a lot friendlier shades for us thanks largely to this little video of Girls, courtesy of the unstoppable hit-hauling juggernaut that is GvsB and now back again for a brief stay on the dancing tables of these pages, covering Cass McCombs ‘s whiskey-eyed bus station blues ballad “Dreams Come True Girl.”

We’ve been meaning to post about Cass’s new record “Catacombs” for a good while – released as it was in the proud colours of Domino at the start of the month. Perhaps it doesn’t matter though because Cass’s songs have been around forever – beat out steady by the lonely, well-meant, hell-bent hearts of young dream-sore souls, inscribed in the dust and the tarmac of long roads out of hot nameless cities that leave behind the debris of living and eventually must be walked, floating above the chatter and chunder of daylight losing pub corner afternoons. Cass’s success is in bottling such timeless melody and emotion here, for you, now.
