Slow Throned

Alright – there’s a huge, imagination dwarfing, wonder-wrought world of infinite adventure and possibility unintelligible out there waiting to be seized and lived all over and ever-cherished, we get it, but whilst we keep happening across such loot, so many open windows in the wide-lawned neighbourhood of effortless pop music that is Ridgewood, NJ, we’re not ever leaving town. It’s school sweethearts, steady jobs and crowded cemetries for us from here ‘till the end of the road. Already weighing down eager hearts in the right places , Big Troubles sing the saddest songs and the most real too – fog descending on brilliant thoughts, healing hope always simmering under even the most sallow skin’s surface. The nerve-wracked and cracked blues stranded standard of “Greydayz” sees an end-days Elvis figure sequestered away in disgraceland but still kind of the coolest – its huge, toilet-bowl warped Fifties guitar twang conjured in a meat-sweating hamburger hallucination that hauntingly preserves all our hero’s glory days, all that unfading adulation and unbeatable youth. kind of heartbreaking, but kind of comforting and perfect too, just as it should be.

Keep your eyes open for forthcoming Big Troubles releases on Old English Spelling Bee and some other jerks in the not too distant future.
