Both spooky and magnetic, vulnerable and mechanic, Pina Chulada ‘s heaven-hailing, parallel dimension haunt-hop hymnal “What You Mean” exorcises the spirits of all the beautiful R’N‘B martyrs – real and imagined – at once in a wonderful, sludgy slow-mo seance that sees a deepest sleep-awoken, detached but still glossy and soulful vocal sprinkled into the midst of a sparse, synth-sketched darkland like one universal life-affirming dream descending on a whole wasted world in slumber so that it wakes with a new love in its heart and a new gospel to sing.
