Not sure what sort of girl it is that Active Child , AKA Pat Grossi, is gazing upon forlornly but she must be a diamond-carved angel haloed in preternatural white with paradisal garden plucked roses for her hair and a smile sculpted with meticulous pain-killing craft from endless centuries of happiness to have been the muse for a song as effortlessly enchanting and understatedly rapturous as this; to have been the sweet air in the lungs of a voice so melancholy and real, the word on the lips of a chorus so genuinely epiphanic as that which the jam, taken from a collection of songs doing their thing on the project’s myspace, brandishes for a priceless, gleaming moment when PG’s pleading incantation of “don’t go” is borne into the sky on coral wings of seraphic spiralling synths before being brought down again, returned whole but changed forever.
