The ink may still be wet on the deal that Azealia Banks has just penned with the mighty XL and as much as we’ve documented our fondness for her in the past, we have a feeling that painfully fresh-faced Floridian Dominique Young Unique might give her a run for the crown of babe with the beats. Dominique started out as the protegé of everyone’s favourite hoods-up and um, all hanging out nerd-hop naturalists Yo Majesty! at the tender age of just 12 and it shows – “Music Time”‘s rapid-fire delivery and hyperactive retro-futurist production recalling her mentors immediately but swaggers out of their shadow effortlessly at the same time by virtue of a really quite undeniable exuberance and fun rudegrrrrl endeavour.
