Don't Care

Between lugging all our stuff into new houses of tremendous hope/promise/lack of internet and being completely conquered by this new song by Transparent favourites and label champions Smith Westerns, we’ve not had much of a chance in the last couple of days to spew the sort of feverish, breathless babble about parallel dimension pop nuggets and timewarped lost classics that usually make up these pages. Apologies for that, but normal service will be resumed soon and in the meantime we must return as a matter of necessity and gravity to Chicago’s most amorous with “Imagine Part 3” – the new jam that emerged on their myspace last week and has been made available for download courtesy of Forkcast over the weekend. A shimmering, shape-shifting pop odyssey, the SW’s contribution to a mouthwatering forthcoming split single with fellow retro rooted/future owning garage-found orchestral troupe Magic Kids takes the mum’s makeup glam and quiet, longing + lusting romance of the group’s debut LP (and single) and seriously beefs it up with all sorts of baroque touches, soaring dynamics and teenage dreaming, sadness-slaying guitar heroics.
Check out Fat Possum for the lowdown on that split single. Order “Be My Girl/Girl In Love”, out now on Transparent, here
