Get (Low) Down

As previously noted, we’re very pleased to be possessing one of our favourite haunts White Heat tonight in honour of the release of Love Comes Close, the new LP by Cold Cave out now on Matador. It’s a wonderful record of perfectly poised contradictions – equal parts monochromatic and kalaeidoscopic, charming and disturbing, joyful and doomed and well deserving of the glowing plaudits it has received thus far. There are still some tickets available on the door for the show, so get down early to ensure entry (and to catch Spectrals and Club Royale.)

Until later, here’s Cold Cave’s “Theme From Tomorrowland” – a glorious, ghoulish cut of vampire-camp dread disco that sees the Pet Shop Boy’s most transcendent pop moments dragged through black fire and brimstone into a cavernous dungeon club decorated as for a sordid school prom, full of kohl-eyed, broken-hearted, bloody-lipped euro-goths glugging champagne from goblets and dancing carefree bubblegum steps in knee high leather romperstompers.
