Since our bank has the archaic, anti-capitalist policy of not making it rain on us whenever we need some extra cash and ignoring all our YouTube video emails to them about how the system functions flawlessly in the hip hop world, we were sadly unable to reach CMJ last week. Now that the mass exodus from the DIY spaces of NYC back to the blog/real world is over the band everyone keeps telling us about is Surfer Blood. As all our favourite places have been nudging us gently towards their pumped up, Palm Beach powerchords alongside smoked-out, strutting pop melodies for more than a while it’s kinda awesome to finally realise that half of the reason we love ‘Swim’ so fiercely is because it reminds us of rocking out to More Than A Feeling.
