When listening to the enduring, fuzzy throwback pop of one-man show Spectrals you get the impression that his amazing single Leave Me Be could easily have been the result of a crazy social experiment dreamt up by Spector himself to relocate a Philles signed west coaster to Yorkshire. Either way this unique shake up of heavy-hearted British gloom and infectious sunkissed, breezy melodies has had us totally hooked and waiting impatiently for the LP to drop on Captured Tracks next year.

What are your plans for 2010?

Playing songs to people if they’ll have me. I’d be made up if I could do some shows in the States, I’m working on that. Expect a lot of new jams and a full length LP called “Bad Penny” to come out on Captured Tracks.

Can you tell us a little about your new track?

I was listening to tons of The Everly Brothers when I wrote this, in particular I was completely obsessed with their song ‘I Wonder If I Care As Much’. It sort of kept me up one night and I wrote half of the lyrics not really knowing what I was trying to say. Turns out it was real mean.
