Incoming 2010 - Summer Camp

We might be big fans of Summer Camp but what we know about them could fit onto the back of a particularly small bank note. An air of mystery is usually a good thing and who said you need to be the official biographer to love hot new jams. We aren’t the only admirers who strayed upon their unspeakably idyllic demos and found ourselves instantly preaching the virtues of first kisses, summer dresses and swooning. Keeping your feminine/sensitive/best side on the DL is boring. Not a huge amount of info flying around about future releases but for the timebeing enjoy them opening their hearts to us below.

Favourite Song of 2009?

Girls – Lust For Life – It’s just such an incredible song, it breaks our hearts everytime we hear it, and it’s so short that you can feasibly have it on repeat for hours and hours without getting bored.

Favourite Album of 2009?

Mount Eerie – Wind’s Poem – It’s just full of the best atmosphere and life of any album we’ve heard in the year, it sounds like it was recorded on the moon in the middle of a snowstorm in a nuclear bunker with murderers and wolves trying to get in.

Mount Eerie – Ancient Questions

What are your plans for 2010?

We’re writing and recording like crazy at the moment, so hopefully we’ll have something to release in the upcoming months. We’re also getting ready to play live, and are thinking of lots of weird and wonderful things to do with our stage show. Mostly though, we’re just hoping to have lots of fun in 2010, eat loads of nice food, go somewhere warm at some point, and make new friends. We want some new pen pals, people send us your addresses!

Can you tell us a little about the track you’ve sent us?

This is obviously a cover of the Flamingos track, which we’ve all been obsessed for for many years. We actually recorded this completely on a spontaneous and ill-advised whim, and weren’t expecting for anyone to ever hear it, so it was a total surprise for people to like it. For that reason it’s a really important track for us. Of course it’s nowhere near as good as the original, but since the original is the purest essence of goodness, we’re OK with that! Also it was the first track ever blogged about us, by the wonderful and buddah/god-like Transparent, so it seems fitting.
