Incoming 2010 - Wild Nothing

Wild Nothing is the bedroom-burrowed recording guise of Virginian blue-romantic Jack Tatum. His brand of hurting, wistful, ever-gold new-wave pop has had us caught in its clutches for the best part of the year and leaves us pretty ecstatic about the prospect of his debut LP – set for release on the formidable hit factory that is Captured Tracks in 2010.
Favourite song of 2009?
WN: So 2009 was a big year for old music in my life. Honestly I didn’t listen to a whole lot of new stuff over the past year, but I’ve included picks from 2009 alongside past songs and albums that are probably more representative of what I was actually listening to, and blah blah blah.
Consistently makes me want a pizza. And a bottle of wine.
Destroyer – Bay Of Pigs – I’m really into epic shit. This song is 13 minutes long, so…yeah. It’s so good though!
Ecstasy of St. Theresa – What’s
This is an older song from a Czech shoegaze band that ended up getting all poopy but their first EP is so awesome. Listened to this song so many times this year. Love the bass line and nerdy wah wah rock out.
Favourite album of 2009?
I can’t think of an album in 2009 that completely took over my life, which is what I feel like a favorite album should do. But…
El Perro Del Mar – Love is Not Pop (This is just a solid pop album. Hasn’t gotten old and I can’t find anything negative to say about it so i guess that makes it my favorite. “Let Me In” is a beautiful bummer!)
El Perro Del Mar – Change Of Heart
What are your plans for 2010?
Graduating from college \m/. Putting out my first LP on Captured Tracks in April, hopefully playing lots of shows, maybe going to Europe! Moving to the Biiig Apple or something. Eating lots of dumplings and stuff. I have good feelings about 2010.
Can you tell us a little about the track you’ve sent us?
“Live in Dreams” is basically the result of my attempt to write “There is a Light That Never Goes Out” by The Smiths, again, bummer lyrics included. If that makes sense.
