Incoming 2010 - Lonely Galaxy

Lonely Galaxy may be one of our more recent fixations, only clustering together from internet ether in November, but we’re nevertheless feeling it strong, true and straight down the line as one of the ever-closer new year’s most brilliant hopes. Here, the LG discuss their favourite records of the year and serve us up a small slice of salvation in the shape of “6.15 am” – a brittle and beautiful little sketch of all night yearning and undreamt devotion.

Favourite song of 2009?

Girls – Hellhole Ratrace

Just for the unashamedly heartfelt beauty of it. It’s 7 mins long and not a second of it is wasted.

Favourite album of 2009?

Wild Beasts – Two Dancers

Wild Beasts – All The King’s Men

It blows me away every time I listen to it. I can’t really liken it to anything else and that’s probably why I love it so much.

What are your plans for 2010?

Play some gigs. Play some more gigs. Record some songs. Record Some more songs. Put out a Single. Record an Album. Put out an Album. Play some more gigs. Maybe have a little rest, probably not though. Play some more gigs and that’s about as far ahead as i’ve thought…

Can you tell us a little about the track you’ve sent us?

This was written as an antidote to the emotionally draining 7 minute orchestral tracks i’d be writing at the time. I’d had the chords stuck in my head for about a year and finally turned it into a short and deliberately stripped-down song in the early hours one morning. I don’t remember what inspired the lyrics particularly, probably looking at a clock.
