Incoming 2010 - Egyptian Hip Hop

Just to reiterate what we’ve been telling anyone that’ll listen, Manchester’s impossibly young Egyptian Hip Hop are blessed with the best name and best sounds we’ve come across in recent months. The underworld skimming, hurting bedroom pop of Rad Pitt which first snared us still remains one of our stand-out songs of the year and we’re ultra excited to hear the souped-up studio version. Make sure you end up owning their forthcoming single on Hit Club / Zarcorp and look out for some Sam Eastgate produced material on the horizon, a 12 minute mind-bending outtake of which we’ve got below.
Favourite Song of 2009?
Girls – Lust For Life – this is a classssic and amazing track. I hadn’t even heard them until we supported on few of their shows earlier this year and it’s even more amazing live!
Favourite Album of 2009?
Bibio – Ambivalence Avenue
Really great and pretty dang experimental album. Some absolutely amazing compositions on here like “Cry! Baby!”, awesome folk stuff like “The Palm Of Your Wave” and of course glitchy tracks like “S’vive”. Fun for all the family!
What are your plans for 2010?
I hope in 2010 that we achieve many of our (stupid) goals. Writing hundreds of great songs would be good and getting new equipment that doesn’t break all the time. Would also like to go on tour around the universe with amazing bands and friends for long enough to get kicked out of college I guess…and maybe somewhere down the line – write an album.
Can you tell us a little about the track you’ve sent us?
‘Nifeo’ is a wide, free mess of Eastern space jam. It’s the omelette of sound and it’s the lovely smooth flow coming from our and La Priest’s many hands. Together we made it and together it shall stay with us forever. It lasts a mighty 125400 minutes and it loves everything, for everything is in it’s sight. No more shall the human race be in the dark about it’s future. Nifeo explains everything in the language of music.
