We’re proud today to officially announce the next single on Transparent, “Mr Petersen” by Perfume Genius. Much-eulogised round here, “Mr Petersen” is without doubt one of our most cherished songs of recent, or any, times and it’s a great honour to be able to commit it to wax under our banner. B-side “Never Did” is purely devastating, Hadreas’ fragile piano lines augmented with swirling, celestial synths – radiant as all heaven itself. It’s been joyful to see people already falling hard for Mike Hadreas and his next-dimension, lonelyhearted pop elegies and morbid, magnificent music-box storytelling. Sad, redemptive, singular and incredibly brave, “Mr Petersen” is an ideal introduction into his magnetic, inescapable world and only a teaser of what’s to come when debut LP “Learning” arrives providentially on his own Organs label later this year.
