TP017 - How To Dress Well

Proud to announce the release of “Ecstasy With JoJo / Take It On”, the new double A side 7” single from How To Dress Well. Those already familiar with HTDW, AKA Tom Krell through the self-released, widely lauded “Can’t See My Own Face” EP from earlier in the year will already be aware of his dense, disturbed compositions and truly beautiful voice. Those who are not should prepare themselves for obsession. Leading up to debut album proper “Love Remains”, due for release in North America through Lefse on September 21st 2010, “Ecstasy With JoJo / Take It On” sees Krell continue to produce his devastating brand of otherworldly pop at pace, organising his stirring, swollen vocal harmonies into dense, provocative melodies and textures that glow with powerful humanity. Ecstasy With JoJo” is a massive ghostly damaged disco banger boasting a dancefloor annihilating sample that is foggy and warped but in a way that only magnifies its joyful, dizzying 3AM energy. Flipside, “Take It On” (shared yesterday) is more mournful and brooding but the deep tension it holds in its dubby drum blasts and sighing echo serves primarily to create space for Krell’s miraculous, angelic vocal acrobatics.
This is potent, seductive and completely absorbing modern pop music that understands the truth of how human experience occurs – never in clarity but overwhelmingly, intensely, in conflict. Submit yourself to it:

So you guys obviously know somebody over at Pitchfork because this music REALLY flat out sucks ass cavity. It’s total bullshit and you are somehow getting over on people, congrats. Also, this site has some of the worst band names ever. How to Dress Well? Perfume Genius? Come on with this ironic hipster throw away dog shit. This is the worst!

Out to commenter #1. If you don’t like the music, the least you could do is come up with some actual reasons that it is “total bullshit”.
Your opinion isn’t a foundation for a constructive argument.
Personally, this music has hit me just right. Though I feel the Michael Jackson sample is a little forced, I see where he was going with it. I’m really feeling the “Can’t See My Own Face” EP though. Love the lo-fi R&B feel. There’s something very inventive there. Especially with audio textures created by overblown EQ’s. Very interesting stuff.
Definitely not for the fain of heart (as shown by the above comment).
